They are everywhere at the moment, even living in cars. YUCK. Two dozen have met their end because they were living in our compost heap and Peter drowned them, or because they ate a bait. So far we've discovered we need to leave the door closed to avoid them entering the house and we are pretty much ok. But they are so small they can get through anywhere. We don't know where else they are getting in, we've been plugging up any space we can find with steel wool (apparently they hate chewing through it to get inside). We've disovered
this mouse trap which means you don't have to touch the disgusting creatures when you put them in the bin. Not that I'm willing to even get as close as picking up the mouse trap.
We haven't seen many for the last couple of weeks - it rained and then got cold, which apparently freezes them.
Oh, and apparently mice can't climb slippery walls, although rats can. So they are largely floor dwellers - food on benchtops is safe.
