Five things

Five random things from this week:
1. HB can tolerate a little bit of dairy! We have inadvertantly, occasionally been giving him GF bread from the shop when we run out of the mix, and he shows no sign of a reaction! This opens up so many possibilities.
2. I discovered HB likes (loves!) GF porridge, made on rice flakes. He asked for it for lunch one day this week, so of course I said yes. So exciting to have another cheap, staple food (so rare on his diet) that I can feed him!
3. We were all at home a lot of the week with a heavy cold. Hopefully this week everyone will be back at school and work.
4. The Education Queensland school nurse called because Lucy had been referred to her so the nurse could help the school manage her eczema. This was news to me (I was sure I should have signed a permission form (!), however, the more help the better. She is going to arrange for the school to apply her doctor prescribed moisturizer to her arms and legs at lunch time so that we can increase the amount of times moisturizer is applied to 4 (getting dressed in the morning, first break, after school and after bath).
5. I am setting up a creche for our church. Unfortunatley this has involved creating a lot of landfill from the old toys that were there, but shopping for toys for a setup like a creche or playgroup is always fun. I dislike playgroups and creches set up by people with random toys in a box in a corner with no understanding of fostering children's pretend play, which will have them playing happily for much longer than the random toy approach.

Mother's Day

At LJ's classroom last Friday I was treated to an afternoon of 'pampering'. This entailed having my hands washed, moisturiser applied followed by a manicure of alternating purple and orange polish. I endured bravely and still have spots of it on my nails!

I cried. She was so confident, so beautiful. She was given to me in trust almost six years ago. I love her so much.

I did this interview with her, from a list of questions on a friend's facebook page.

You’re my bestest daughter.

2. What makes Mummy happy?

Puddles (this made me smile).

3. What makes Mummy sad?

When Lucy is at school.

4. How does Mummy make you laugh.

By doing funny things.

5. What was Mummy like when she was your age?

Her Mum and her sister.

6. How old is Mummy?

Thirty-one. (just a little bit off)

7. How tall is Mummy?

As tall as the top of the windowsill (not quite!)

8. What is Mummy’s favourite thing to do?

Watch Lucy do tricks. (Hmm.)

9. What does Mummy do when you aren’t around?

Play with Hamish and go out. Go on the computer. Sleep.

10. If your Mummy becomes famous, what will it be for?

Having the best kids in the world

11. What is your Mummy really good at?

Helping me and Hamish and going on the computer.

12. What is your Mummy not very good at

Watching the TV (didn't know this was a skill set I needed to develop?).

13. What does your Mummy do for a job?

Talk on the phone and watch videos of boring kids. (I mentor younger speech pathologists on the phone and occasionally they send me DVDs of 'boring kids').

14. What is Mummy’s favourite food?

Turkish Delight

15. What makes you proud of your Mummy?

That she’s the best Mum in the world.

16. If your Mum were a cartoon character, who would she be?

Danger Mouse – no, Dora – hang on..I don't know, it's too hard.

17. What do you and your Mummy do together?

Sight words. Craft.

18. How are you and Mummy the same?

We’re both girls, have blue eyes and like pink.

19. How are you and Mummy different?

We have different coloured hair.

20. How do you know your Mummy loves you?

She knows I’m her bestest girl.

21. Where is your Mummy’s favourite place to go?

Out to a restaurant and go scrapbooking.

Obviously I need to work on her superlatives, but what a great excercise!
