Children's books

A friend of mine, on attempting to buy a new book for her 3 year old niece, observed that the children's book section in the bookstore holds the same contents as they did 10 years ago (apart from a new book by Pamela Allen and Mem Fox) when she was buying books for her now 13 year old daughter.

What do you think? Is there anything new under the sun?

  1. Maybe it's just that the ones written in the last 10 years aren't worth a second look...
Either that or the mainstream children's book stores don't sell the good ones. I can almost guarantee that if there is a Children's title I want to buy for someone, the main chains won't have it.
