At 9am today we left for what I hoped was HB's last review at the trauma clinic. We arrived by 10 after dropping off LJ and went to the plaster room. Another child was having a leg cast sawed off and since HB is a veteran by now he wasn't scared of the noise of the saw.
Half-leg Cast removed (the skin underneath was a lot better this time) we headed over to X-ray where thankfully we didn't have to wait long. I bought myself a coffee (the base has REALLY nice coffee at the coffee cart which was the highlight of my day!), then went back to wait for the Orthopaedic surgeon. Bone has started to grow around the spiral fracture as well in between it. However, we did need to have another half cast put on (this is cast number 4!). However, they have reinforced the foot and he had already been walking on the old one. He has even managed to go to the toilet for the last week - by himself! So life has been getting easier for me, as well as him. It's just the bathing and the associated bag/tape/gladwrap routine that's the big pain now - and not being able to swim. My GP still wants to send him to a Paediatrician though - after he's walking properly.
